Setup: Wrap two medium-sized rubber bands all around the deck vertically about one half inch apart. Then place your chosen card on top of the entire deck face up. Now you’re ready to get started.
Grab one of those strands with your hand and fold it up over the top of the deck. Carefully hold that second tight band with your index finger hidden from view in the back. It’s important to remember you cannot show the thin edge bottom of the deck. Otherwise, your audience would see there are extra rubber bands being used. As a convincer, you can show the top edge of the deck while you say, “I’ve wrapped this deck with a rubber band.”
When you release the band holding the single card, it will appear as if the card has magically escaped from the rest of the cards. You can tell the story of an innocent prisoner that was charged for a crime he did not commit. And when DNA evidence was invented, his case was reviewed, he was shown to be not guilty; and so he was given his freedom.
