Setup: All you need is a regular deck of cards, a clear plastic card case, and two white pieces of paper or card stock. For the duplicate of the forced card, use a card that has a blank back or cut out white paper and tape it to the back of the card. If you make your own, carefully cut the paper around the four corners of the card to convince everyone it’s a normal card when it appears face-up. Now, insert that special card white-side-up into the clear case, placing it onto the bottom piece of paper. To your viewer, this will create the illusion that the card case is empty.
Pro Tips: You can use any card force method you like for this routine. In this series, Marty Grams also demonstrates a technique to vanish a card from the deck. It’s important to remember the audience cannot inspect the card that appears inside the case. You can tip out the card so it remains face-up, then move onto the next part of your routine.
