Setup: All you need is a clear plastic water bottle and two caps. Bend the first cap enough to slide it into the top of the bottle, trapping it inside. Start your performance with the first cap hidden behind your hand inside the bottom of the bottle. The second cap should be normally screwed onto the top. You will begin the effect by unscrewing the cap.

With your words and gestures, bring all the audience’s attention to the cap instead of the bottle. They should never be aware there’s actually two caps involved. When you slap the second cap against the bottle, keep your palm pressed against it. You can then hand out the bottle for inspection. Remind them there are no special cuts or slits in any of the sides, making it seem even more impossible.

Pro Tip: It will work best if you leave the label on the outside of the bottle. This will help hide the cap in your hand.
