How the Key Card Works Secret

Congrats on getting this far on your journey into magic! You’re about to learn one of the most powerful techniques in all of card magic. And it also happens to be very easy to do. Your volunteer can shuffle the deck however many times they want. As a reminder…the “key card” is always the bottom card. Larry Anderson teaches three unique ways you can catch a glimpse at it without any questions asked.
It’s important to know you can cut the deck several times without separating the “key card” from its position above their chosen card. The only way they can become separated is if you see the key card is back on the bottom. To fix this, cut the deck again. This final cut will join the two cards next to each other. This technique for card location is a great way to start learning a wide variety of other card tricks.
Pro Tip: When you are dealing to “reveal” their chosen card…go a few cards past it. That way, they think you’ve messed up. But you say, “The next card I turn over will be your card.” They’ll be skeptical because you’ve passed it. That’s when you reach down and turn over the card just above the dealt “key card,” proving it to really be their selection.
