Setup: All you need is a drinking glass and any kind of coin. This effect is all about what the spectator feels on their arm. You will condition them to sense both of your hands gently close around their wrist as you talk them through what’s about to happen. When you say you’re reaching for them with one hand and then the other, this frees up your second hand to move the coin into the glass. The method is to squeeze your thumb of the first hand so it feels like two hands are gripping their wrist. You can do this trick a few times in the same performance if the audience is really finding it hilarious or fascinating.
Pro Tip: You can also give your spectator a blindfold to wear so you’re sure they cannot see what you’re doing when their eyes are closed. Choose a spectator wearing two layers of long sleeve clothing or a thick jacket. The effect works much better than if they are wearing shorts sleeves.
You can use many different containers or objects in this effect. It also can be fun to really build up the confidence of their own telekinetic abilities so when the object falls into the glass…they really believe they may have actually caused it with the power of their mind.
